BUFFALO, NY – Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP, in conjunction with Daniel Engert and David Storandt, Town Supervisors for the Towns of Somerset and Clayton, respectively, recently hosted the second in a series of informational seminars regarding how town officials and municipalities can successfully navigate Article 10 of the New York Public Service Law for large scale energy projects. The seminar was held December 7 at the Hotel at Batavia Downs in Batavia.
The presenters shared their expertise and first-hand knowledge of the process that attempts to circumvent municipalities’ Home Rule authority.
Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP currently represents the towns of Somerset and Clayton, NY both of which are involved in different stages of the Article 10 siting processes regarding proposed industrial wind projects. The seminar explained why it is important for municipalities to respond collectively to Article 10’s undermining of Home Rule and touched on what municipalities should do now to ensure their voice is heard throughout the siting process.
