About Anthony M. Kroese

Anthony M. Kroese is a member of Lippes Mathias’ real estate practice team and leads one of the firm’s attorney coordinated groups for social engagement. He represents owners, developers and investors nationwide in a wide range of commercial real estate and finance transactions, including corporate term loans and revolving credit facilities, mezzanine loans, and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) financings.

He routinely prepares and negotiates project development contracts, loan documents, purchase and sale agreements, property management agreements, commercial leases — including sale-leasebacks — licenses and franchise agreements. He works collaboratively with commercial real estate clients through business issues related to landlord-tenant disputes, construction and reciprocal easements, due diligence memorandums, and title and survey analysis.

Kroese regularly counsels clients on complex commercial real estate-related corporate issues, including corporate formation, governance and dissolution, merger and acquisition due diligence, zoning ordinances, and the preparation of corporate transaction profiles. He works with the firm’s corporate and sports, entertainment and hospitality practice teams to efficiently handle commercial real estate components within broader transactions. Kroese is frequently called upon to draft legal opinion letters, leveraging his experience in real estate law to provide authoritative legal assessments on various matters.

Based on his prior experience with commercial and real estate litigation, Kroese works with clients to develop strategies during transactions that mitigate future disputes, providing counsel on real estate dispute resolution and mitigation options, and advising clients on steps to protect business interests at the onset of a dispute.

In the Western New York community, Kroese is actively involved in various charitable and community organizations, where he provides his time and legal expertise to the Buffalo, New York, region and beyond. He is also passionate about mentoring young professionals in the legal field, with a focus on commercial real estate and land development. He regularly speaks with students preparing to start their legal education, including at his alma maters, Canisius University and the University of Notre Dame, and participates in career development programs, sharing his experiences and insights into commercial real estate law.
