Bryan C. Shade Joins Lippes Mathias as Senior Associate

Washington, D.C – Lippes Mathias announced today that Bryan C. Shade, a senior associate, has joined the firm in its Washington, D.C. office. Bryan will work as part of the firm’s Indian law practice team, advising tribal clients on a wide array of novel legal issues ranging from gaming and economic development to self-governance and self-determination, and claims settlement and litigation. Before joining Lippes Mathias, Bryan advised on Indian affairs in the Office of the Solicitor at the United States Department of the Interior and in the past has served Tribal Nations as in-house counsel and in other administrative capacities. Bryan is an enrolled member of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians.
Bryan received both his B.A. and MBA in 2007 and 2010, respectively, from Northeastern State University, and in 2016, graduated with his J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law. Bryan has formerly served as treasurer on the American Indian Resource Center, Inc., Board of Directors, and as a member of the Tahlequah Public Schools Indian Education Parent Committee, and the City of Tahlequah, O.K. Capital Improvements Tax Oversight and Abatement Boards. Bryan is a 2016 recipient of the G. William Rice Award for Commitment to and Excellence in the field of Federal Indian Law from the Oklahoma Bar Association Indian Law Section.
