Bryan C. Shade to Moderate Panel at Federal Bar Association’s Indian Law Conference

Washington, D.C. – On Monday, November 7, 2022, at the Federal Bar Association’s Indian Law Conference, Bryan C. Shade, senior associate and member of the firm’s Indian law practice team, will moderate a panel titled, “Tribal Sovereignty in Use of Federal Funding.” The panel will cover ways to increase tribes’ exercise of their sovereignty in the expenditure of federal funds, including through ISDEAA, PL 477, and Section 105(l). In addition to Bryan serving as the moderator, the panel will include:

- Kitcki Carroll, Executive Director, United South and Eastern Tribes, Inc. (USET)
- Kathryn Isom-Clause, Deputy Assistant Secretary – Policy and Economic Development, Indian Affairs, U.S. Department of the Interior (invited)
Bryan C. Shade concentrates his practice on advising tribal clients with a wide array of novel legal issues ranging from gaming and economic development to self-governance and self-determination and claims settlement and litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Bryan advised on Indian affairs in the Office Solicitor at the United States Department of the Interior. Bryan has also served Tribal Nations as in-house counsel and in other administrative capacities. This combination of experience on both sides of the table makes Bryan uniquely qualified to represent his tribal clients. He is an enrolled member of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians.
