Celeste Butera Joins Lippes Mathias as Partner, Strengthening Intellectual Property and Litigation Practices

Lippes Mathias is pleased to announce that Celeste Butera has joined the firm as a partner in its Long Island office, where she will work within the firm’s intellectual property and litigation practice teams. Butera brings a distinguished record in high-stakes litigation and appellate advocacy, particularly in matters of intellectual property and complex business torts. Her arrival enhances the firm’s capabilities in delivering comprehensive representation in copyright, trademark, and patent disputes across federal courts in the United States. 

Butera’s practice encompasses trademark infringement, copyright infringement, patent litigation, unfair competition, Lanham Act claims, and complex commercial disputes. She has represented clients in numerous federal appellate courts, including the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Fourth, Sixth, Ninth, Eleventh, and Federal Circuits, providing a unique depth of experience in sophisticated intellectual property issues. She also has a robust practice before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and the Patent and Trademark Office, handling opposition, cancellation, and other proceedings on behalf of clients.

She also has represented insurers nationally on a wide range of coverage issues tied to intellectual property and business torts. 

Butera received her J.D., with distinction, from Hofstra University School of Law and her B.A. from Old Dominion University. She is an active member of the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, New York Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, and American Bar Association. She has been recognized by Long Island Business News as a “Who’s Who in Intellectual Property.”
