Kathryn V. Myrtle Sworn Into, Elected Vice President of Native American Community Services of Erie & Niagara Counties, Inc. Board of Directors

Lippes Mathias today announced that Kathryn V. Myrtle, a member of the firm’s Indian law practice team was appointed to the Native American Community Services (NACS) of Erie & Niagara Counties, Inc. Board of Directors at the organization’s meeting on Thursday, March 21. After being sworn in, Myrtle was subsequently elected as a vice president of the NACS board of directors.
Native American Community Services (NACS) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1975 to provide quality health and social services to the off-reservation Native American population in Erie and Niagara Counties. In keeping with its “tradition of caring,” it has since grown into a full-scale human services agency committed to helping the entire community, regardless of race or background. NACS has developed innovative and evidence-based approaches that are intended to significantly improve the lives of those who engage in our programs and services. NACS has offices in Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Lockport, New York.
Kathryn V. Myrtle advises tribal clients on issues ranging from gaming and economic development to self-governance and self-determination, along with claims settlement and litigation. Prior to coming to Lippes Mathias, Myrtle served as a judicial law clerk with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation where she drafted bench memorandums for criminal, civil, and family court proceedings; analyzed complaints, petitions, and motions to the court; and drafted final orders and judicial decisions. Myrtle has also interned with the Catawba Nation, where she drafted legislative ordinances for the tribe regarding its governmental transparency, family/medical leave, and disability policy.
