Lippes Mathias today announced that Danielle L. Pennetta and Kathryn V. Myrtle have joined the firm as attorneys in the firm’s Albany and Buffalo, NY offices, respectively.
Pennetta, who has joined the firm as counsel, focuses her practice on representing various public sector labor unions. Her practice involves defending union members in disciplinary proceedings and arbitrations, negotiating settlements, filing contract grievances, handling improper practices before the New York Public Employment Relations Board, as well as advising union members on policy and legal compliance. She also represents union members in administrative hearings before the New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs and has assisted clients with matters before the New York State Division of Human Rights and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Before working in the labor and employment field, Pennetta practiced insurance defense litigation in New York and New Jersey, including working closely with an insurance company’s Special Investigations Unit conducting various insurance fraud investigations. She also more recently practiced law in Burlington, Vermont where she worked in the firm’s litigation group and defended a variety of both New York and Vermont-based clients before New York State and Federal courts.
Pennetta received her undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and graduated from the Pace University School of Law as a ranking scholar. Outside of her practice, Pennetta is a member of both the New York State and Albany County Bar Associations. She is also involved with the Mentor Connector Program, a charitable organization that supports youth in Southern Vermont.
Myrtle, an associate attorney who has joined the firm’s Indian law practice team, advises tribal clients on issues ranging from gaming and economic development to self-governance and self-determination, along with claims settlement and litigation. Prior to coming to Lippes Mathias, she served as a judicial law clerk with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation where she drafted bench memorandums for criminal, civil, and family court proceedings; analyzed complaints, petitions, and motions to the court; and drafted final orders and judicial decisions. Myrtle has also interned with the Catawba Nation, drafting legislative ordinances for the tribe regarding its governmental transparency, family/medical leave, and disability policy.
Myrtle is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Mashantucket Pequot Bar Association. She graduated from Rhode Island College in 2019 with her B.A. and in 2022, received her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
