O'Brien, a member of the firm’s business and commercial litigation team in its Rochester office, has been selected as an honoree in the Up and Coming Lawyers category of the Rochester Business Journal’s 2024 Attorneys of the Year Awards. This prestigious recognition celebrates attorneys who have been admitted to the bar for ten years or less and who demonstrate a strong commitment to the legal profession, professional achievement, and community service early in their careers.

About Kaitlin E. O’Brien 

Kaitlin O’Brien represents clients on a diverse set of matters, with a focus on complex commercial disputes. She has experience litigating cases in New York state court involving contract disputes, life settlement transactions, estate administration, employment claims, non-compete clauses, business torts, and challenges to administrative agency decisions. O’Brien also represents and advises hospitals, health care providers, and skilled nursing facilities in a wide variety of guardianship matters. She is experienced in preparing complaints and motions, conducting records review and legal research, overall case preparation, and negotiating advantageous settlements. 

While in law school, O’Brien served as a 3:03 student prosecutor for the Criminal Law Clinic at Boston University School of Law, where she independently prosecuted drug and motor vehicle-related criminal offenses in Quincy District Court. O’Brien additionally worked as a research assistant, during which time she researched and annotated legislative history to support an Amicus brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court. O’Brien also served as a law clerk for the Criminal Justice Institute at Harvard Law School.
