Lippes Mathias is pleased to share that Brendan H. Little, partner and team leader of the firm's consumer financial services litigation practice team, spoke at the ACA International's 2024 Conference held from July 21 to 23 in San Diego, California.
During the conference, Little took part in two sessions as a presenter. The first session, titled "Beating FCRA Cases: Pick Your Battles, Win the War," addressed the increasing number of fair credit reporting claims and how these can result in substantial consumer damages awards. Key learning objectives included consumer attorneys' tactics to create FCRA claims, methods to make oneself a hard target, and ways to beat cases once sued. Topics covered included early detection methods to halt FCRA claims before they ripen, compliance measures to prevent or respond quickly to these claims, and litigation defense strategies to distinguish cases that should be settled from those that can be defended.
The second session, "Mastery of Client Communication and Litigation Management," was an immersive workshop designed to enhance legal practice through interactive skill-building exercises and collaborative learning. Participants engaged in real-world simulations and audience participation, gaining practical tools and confidence to navigate industry challenges. Learning objectives included developing effective communication strategies, managing client expectations, maintaining professionalism with opposing counsel, and making informed decisions about legal outsourcing.
Brendan H. Little focuses his practice primarily on commercial and business litigation matters, including contractual disputes, shareholder derivative actions, claims asserted pursuant to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, and real property litigation. Additionally, Little devotes a significant amount of his time traveling the country defending creditors against individual and class claims that the creditors have violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Prior to joining Lippes Mathias in 2009, Little was an associate attorney with Paul William Beltz PC, where he represented clients in personal injury matters. In his new practice, he continues to successfully represent the interests of individuals who have suffered serious injuries as a result of the actions or negligence of others.
