Dennis C. Vacco, a former New York State attorney general, partner at Lippes Mathias, and member of the firm’s executive committee, will participate as a speaker during an upcoming webinar hosted by Realty Alliance, titled Wire Fraud in Real Estate: Trends, Risks, and Cutting-Edge Solutions. The event will take place virtually on September 24, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.

Wire fraud, recognized as the second-largest cybercrime in the United States, affects approximately 11,700 real estate transactions each year, with instances growing by 40% annually, according to the FBI. This webinar will bring together industry professionals to discuss the growing risks of wire fraud in real estate transactions, offering insights on trends, prevention strategies, and technological solutions like WireVault to enhance transaction security.

WireVault is a state-of-the-art technology that safeguards wire transactions by addressing vulnerabilities in the collection and sharing of wire information. During the webinar, panelists will demonstrate how this technology is helping to protect real estate transactions from the rising threat of wire fraud.

Joining Vacco in the presentation will be Peter Hunt, a Realty Alliance member; Holly Hubert, a former FBI special agent; and other experts in the field. The panel will share practical examples of wire fraud’s impact on organizations, identify flaws in current methods of collecting and sharing wire information, and discuss best practices for risk management in the real estate industry.
