BUFFALO, N.Y. – For the 2020 Holiday Season, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP announced that employees in the firm’s Buffalo, N.Y., Albany, N.Y., and Jacksonville, Fla. offices had collaborated to benefit charitable organizations in each office’s respective market. The firm’s Buffalo office purchased wish list items for a new Family Justice Center of Erie County (FJC) location in Grand Island, N.Y., which is planned to open in early 2021, but still requires certain furnishings and items to fully equip the facility. Lippes Mathias’ Jacksonville office participated in a discount purchase program to benefit Rethreaded, an organization that provides employment to survivors of human trafficking. The firm’s Albany office raised proceeds for St. Paul’s Center, a shelter for women and children working to move from homelessness to a sustainable future, by purchasing holiday wreaths. The Albany office also “adopted” a family to provide gifts for the holidays.
The Family Justice Center of Erie County provides services and support to individuals in unhealthy relationships, and the education necessary to break larger cycles of relationship abuse. The FJC’s comprehensive and collaborative service model tears down barriers to service, enabling its clients to heal and cultivate hope.
Rethreaded provides a second chance at life through employment for survivors of human trafficking in Jacksonville, Florida. Women have employment opportunities in different facets of the company including production, inventory, sales, marketing and finance/admin. Rethreaded also operates as a distribution company that sells products from like-minded businesses who also employ women who have found freedom from the sex trade.
St. Paul’s Center provides emergency shelter to mothers and their children without a place to call home. Its 19-bed facility operates year-round, so families always have a place to go in times of need. St. Paul’s Center’s dedicated staff provides support and individualized services to families as they transition to independent living.
