BUFFALO, NY – Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP announced today that Thomas J. Keable has joined the firm as a partner.
Mr. Keable will lead the firm’s newly-created Cross-Border Practice Group and will also be a member of the firm’s Corporate and Banking and Financial Transactions Practice Groups. He has assisted Canadian businesses, lenders and individuals with their U.S. activities for more than 30 years.

In addition to Mr. Keable, the firm’s Cross-Border Practice Group includes more than a half dozen lawyers who provide U.S. legal assistance to Canadians in key practice areas, including corporate, finance and banking, acquisitions, securities and private equity, estate planning, litigation and employment.

Mr. Keable focuses his practice on assisting Canadians with their U.S. legal matters, including the formation of entities and the structuring of entities and investments, purchase and sale of businesses; representation of lenders and borrowers in structuring financings and the negotiation and drafting of loan and security agreements; the preparation of agreements for a wide variety of business transactions and situations; and use tax issues and planning.
He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and as a Foreign Legal Consultant in the Province of Ontario. A member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Bar Association of Erie County and its Banking Law Committee, Mr. Keable is a 1981 graduate of The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, cum laude, and a 1978 graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, cum laude.
Mr. Keable is a frequent lecturer on cross-border topics, including “Canadian Ownership of U.S. Properties”; “Structuring Canadian Ownership of U.S. Entities and Properties”; “Canadian Investment in U. S. Real Estate”; “Often-Overlooked Legal and Tax Considerations of Doing Business in the U. S.”; “Structuring Canadian Ownership of U.S. Entities and Properties”; “Success Stories: Cross-Border Investments and Exits”; among many others through the years.
