Bio
Mike is a partner in the firm’s Health Law Practice and office leader of Lippes Mathias’ Syracuse office. He concentrates his practice in the areas of healthcare law, representing dentists, physicians, advance practice providers and allied healthcare providers as well as dental services organizations and management services organizations in strategic planning of complex and diversified ownership, compensation, and management relationships.
Mike counsels healthcare-related businesses, including, but not limited to, dental practices, medical practices and med spas and their professional owners regarding operational and transactional matters, including partnership structures, joint ventures, collaborative arrangements and other affiliations, regulatory compliance, acquisitions, mergers and sale of business. He also counsels his clients with respect to healthcare compliance matters, including compliance with state and federal privacy, anti-kickback, self-referral ("Stark") and fraud and abuse statutes. Mike advises both large group practices and single owner practices with regard to entity formation, entity succession planning, internal and external management structure, employment matters, income allocation arrangements, and day-to-day operations.
Although many of his clients are in the healthcare field, Mike also represents and provides counsel to business professionals in non-healthcare industries in the preparation and negotiation of employment agreements, shareholder agreements, formation and governance documents, complex income allocation and deferred compensation arrangements, and commercial real estate leasing.
