Lippes Mathias Expands Insurance Recovery, Counseling & Litigation Practice with the Addition of Khalid O. Vrede and Khalil H. Williams to Its Rochester Office

Lippes Mathias announced that attorneys Khalid O. Vrede and Khalil H. Williams have joined the firm as associates in its Rochester office, bolstering its insurance recovery, counseling & litigation practice team. 

Khalid O. Vrede brings a comprehensive background in insurance coverage, business counseling and civil litigation to Lippes Mathias. His practice includes representing clients in contract disputes, employment claims, noncompete clauses, and business torts. He previously practiced at Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP in Rochester, N.Y., and a large law firm in New York City. Vrede is active in the Rochester community as an elected board member and chair of the finance and investment committee for the Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library. 

Vrede earned his Juris Doctor with a specialization in international legal affairs from Cornell Law School, where he served as co-president of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, participated in the Asylum and Convention Against Torture Appellate Clinic, and was a member of the Federalist Society. He received the Morris P. Glushein Prize and was on the dean’s list at Cornell. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Binghamton University. Vrede is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association and the Rochester Black Bar Association. 

Khalil H. Williams focuses his practice on insurance coverage and risk management, with additional experience in business and commercial litigation, labor and employment law, and corporate governance. He previously worked as an attorney at Ward Greenberg Heller & Reidy LLP and Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP, both in Rochester. Before attending law school, Williams gained experience as a mediator for the New York State Attorney General’s Consumer Frauds and Protection Bureau, where he mediated disputes and assisted with investigations. 

Williams earned his Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where he served as vice president and secretary of the Black Law Students Association and participated in the Civil Rights and Transparency Clinic. During law school, he was awarded the Hon. Samuel L. Green ’67 Award (2019, 2020) and was named a Jacob Weissfeld Scholar. Williams received his Bachelor of Science from Nazareth University.
