Lippes Mathias Welcomes Four New Attorneys Across its Footprint

Lippes Mathias is pleased to share that attorneys Samantha L. Gozlan, Luke M. Miller, Suzanne M. Rohde, and Christopher J. Tyrpak have joined the firm in a variety of practice areas and locations across its 15-office footprint.
Samantha L. Gozlan
Samantha L. Gozlan, a senior associate, is based in Lippes Mathias’ practices primarily in tax controversy and audit defense. She assists clients with federal income tax issues and federal gratuitous transfer tax issues and has represented clients in front of the United States Tax Court. Before joining the team at Lippes Mathias, she worked for the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Chief Counsel in the large business and international tax division. Gozlan specifically has experience defending large partnerships and global high-wealth taxpayer examinations, reviewing micro-captive insurance and syndicated conservation easement compliance, and assisting with BBA partnership audits.
Gozlan received her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law and her LL.M. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and graduated with her B.F.A. from Tufts University.
Gozlan has received several awards, including the Broward County Women Lawyers’ Association’s Rising Star Award, the Rebecca Knox Public Interest Law Fellowship, and the Federal Bar Association’s Donald C. Alexander Tax Law Writing Competition award.
Luke M. Miller
Luke M. Miller, who is based in Lippes Mathias’ Clarence office and was recently admitted to practice in New York State, is a member of the firm’s insurance recovery, counseling & litigation practice team, concentrating his practice in insurance coverage counseling, assisting clients with risk and insurance matters, with an emphasis on drafting risk and insurance terms in commercial contracts and marshaling claims for insurance recoveries.
Before joining Lippes Mathias, Miller gained experience at the University of Connecticut School of Law Tax Clinic, assisting tax clients with appealing assessments and negotiating payment plans and reduced liability. He also has experience with filings for probate, landlord-tenant, and debt collection matters.
Miller graduated with his B.A. from Ithaca College and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
Suzanne M. Rohde
Suzanne M. Rohde, who has joined Lippes Mathias as of counsel in its Washington, D.C. office, is a member of the firm’s transportation practice team where she focuses on counseling clients in both the public and private sectors, engaging in the development and implementation of transportation policy, legislation, and regulation; as well as advising on transportation-related legal and regulatory matters.
Before joining Lippes Mathias, Rohde held senior positions in both the legislative and executive branches of the federal government, serving two secretaries of transportation and members of Congress, and served as professional staff to a member of the National Transportation Safety Board. In the private sector, she held positions with several transportation consulting and law firms, serving clients in the transportation industry. Additionally, she currently serves as senior vice president of government affairs and policy for the American Bus Association, a nonprofit trade association representing the private motorcoach and group travel industry. In both her private and public positions, Rohde has successfully engaged government and industry representatives, building partnerships and coalitions and advanced transportation safety and economic initiatives through federal legislative and regulatory processes.
Rohde earned her J.D. at the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and attended the University of Michigan (where she received her B.A.) and Johns Hopkins University.
Christopher J. Tyrpak
Christopher J. Tyrpak, counsel, is a member of Lippes Mathias’ real estate practice team in its Buffalo office. Tyrpak serves as real estate counsel to various clients and concentrates his practice on representing purchasers and sellers of real property, with a specific focus and expertise on residential properties and condominiums. He also has prior experience advising clients on a range of bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 filings.
Tyrpak received his B.A. from Canisius University and his J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law. From 2020 to 2022 he was recognized by Upstate New York Super Lawyers®.
