BUFFALO, NY– On Thursday, November 12, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP Attorney Scott S. Allen, Jr., was appointed to U.S. Congressman Chris Jacobs’ Military Academy Review Board. Scott served as a prosecutor in the United States Marine Corps and continues to serve as a Major in the Marine Corps Reserves.

 

Scott and two other former officers will be responsible for interviewing approximately ten candidates for acceptance to one of the following four military academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY.

 

After interviewing each candidate, the Military Review Board will provide their recommended nominee(s) to Congressman Jacobs. Acceptance to one of the four military academies is contingent upon a Congressional nomination.

 

Scott focuses his practice on government investigations and compliance matters.  He represents defendants, targets, witnesses, and businesses during civil and criminal investigations and related litigation brought by federal and state entities by assisting clients with responses to subpoenas, search warrants, and civil investigative demands, and by representing them in court.  As a member of the Government Investigations & Enforcement Actions team, Mr. Allen has also challenged vague or unconstitutional New York State laws through federal and state lawsuits.  Additionally, Mr. Allen uses his previous prosecutorial experience to conduct internal investigations for businesses that suspect fraud within their operation.
