BUFFALO, NY – Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP today announced that Scott E. Friedman has been named as chairman and CEO and Kevin J. Cross will become the managing partner succeeding Friedman in that role.
“In my new position, I look forward to spending more time helping to innovate new ‘best’ practices as we continue to build on our model of providing the highest quality legal expertise to our clients through a genuinely collaborative approach that leverages the interests, skills, and experience of a very talented group of professionals," said Friedman. “I also look forward to contributing to the ongoing expansion of our services and geographic footprint, as we look to find new ways to support our clients and our community.”
Mr. Friedman is a partner and member of the firm’s executive committee. He works on various legal matters, including assisting entrepreneurs and startup companies, as well as consulting with family owned businesses. He received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law and his LLM from University of Pennsylvania Law School. Mr. Friedman serves on the board of directors of a wide range of community organizations, including the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, the Elmwood Franklin School and The Law Enforcement Foundation of Western New York.
Mr. Cross also is a partner and member of the executive committee and former chair of the firm’s litigation practice group. He concentrates his practice in state and federal business litigation as well as environmental matters and provides legal counsel to business and political organizations as well as various corporate counsel functions.
“I am humbled by the support of so many talented attorneys and staff who are truly committed to serving the diverse needs of our clients and I welcome the opportunity to lead our 22 practice groups,” said Cross.
Mr. Cross earned his J.D. from Villanova University Law School and is a member of several professional and community organizations, including the Erie County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Olmsted Center for Sight and Link, Inc. Service Coordination.
Recently, Lippes Mathias announced its move to a new office space at Fountain Plaza in one of Buffalo’s emerging business districts and its acquisition of Albany-based firm Sheehan Green Golderman and Jacques LLP, both strategic efforts by the firm to expand its presence in New York State and accommodate its growing practice groups.
“I look forward to working with Kevin as we enhance the profile of our law firm now and in the future” added Friedman. “With our upcoming office move and recent addition of an Albany office, these leadership changes come at a very exciting time as we celebrate our 50th anniversary.
