BUFFALO, NY– On November 5, 2020, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman hosted a complimentary webinar titled “U.S. Employment Law: Critical HR Considerations for Canadian Businesses Before, During and After the Pandemic.” The program provided an overview of critical U.S. employment law considerations and an update on new laws and regulations deriving from the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar’s speakers included Lippes Mathias’ Amy Habib Rittling, Partner and Employment Practice Team Leader and Vincent M. Miranda, Partner. During the webinar, Amy and Vincent discussed the following topics:
- Critical issues for Canadian employers operating in the U.S., including work classification, pay structure, at-will employment, and more
- New Federal and State COVID-19 laws and regulations
- Closure Mandates
- Work-from-home policies
- Guidelines for safe work environment
- The future of U.S. employment law in a post-COVID world
Amy concentrates her practice in employment and general business law and litigation. Her employment law experience includes counseling and advising employers on all aspects of employment relationships and employment practices and policies. She also assists employers with self-audits and workplace investigations.
Vincent focuses on all aspects of employment litigation and counseling for employers and executives. He regularly represents employers before state and federal administrative agencies and in state and federal courts and advises employers regarding discipline, termination, disability and leave laws, and wage and hour compliance. He performs sexual harassment and other misconduct investigations and drafts, negotiates, and litigates employment, separation, and restrictive covenant agreements.
