USCIS May Initiate 2nd Round of H-1B Cap Lottery Selections
August 11, 2020 |
Immigration Blog
We have been waiting since July 2nd to see if/when USCIS would complete a 2nd round of H-1B cap lottery selections. Some of those chosen in the 1st round did not file H-1B petitions, so there should be unused H-1B numbers available. Given the challenges many businesses have faced in 2020, it is not surprising that USCIS did not receive sufficient petitions to meet the cap during the initial filing period.
We are hearing that it could happen as soon as this week and USCIS would open a new filing period that will last into mid-November.
Nothing is official as of yet, but we will continue to monitor and provide updates.
Please contact an LMWF immigration team member with any specific questions, and check back regularly on this blog for updates on changing rules and policies.
