Lippes Mathias is proud to announce that partners Colleen Flynn Goss, Brendan P. Kelleher, and Brian C. Mahoney have been named to the 2024 Irish Legal 100 by Irish Voice Newspaper. This annual listing honors the most distinguished Irish American legal professionals in the United States, including U.S. Supreme Court justices, attorneys, and legal scholars who share a deep pride in their Irish heritage. All three honorees were invited to celebrate their selection at a reception held at the Washington, D.C., home of Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States, Honorable Geraldine Byrne Nason.

This is the third consecutive year being included on the Irish Legal 100 list for Colleen Flynn Goss, a member of the firm’s intellectual property team who counsels domestic and international clients on a variety of trademark and copyright matters. Her practice encompasses advising clients on the selection, clearance, and adoption of new trademarks, prosecution of applications, registration, maintenance, and enforcement of trademarks and domain names, as well as providing counsel on transactional matters and disputes related to trade secrets, false advertising, and trademarks. Goss works closely with clients to understand their risk tolerance and develop practical strategies for establishing their brands, maintaining and enforcing their IP assets, and achieving their business objectives.

Brendan P. Kelleher, who appears on the list a fourth time is as many years, focuses his practice on the representation of employers in all areas of employment law, including the negotiation of employment and separation agreements, counseling employers regarding their obligations under federal and New York State labor and employment laws, and representing employers before federal and state courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the U.S. and State Departments of Labor, and other federal and state agencies. Kelleher regularly conducts workplace investigations for employers, including investigations of allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other alleged employee misconduct. Drawing on his experience as the general counsel to the City of Buffalo School District and over two decades representing school districts, Kelleher devotes a significant portion of his practice to representing and counseling school districts in all areas of their operations and the unique challenges they face.

New this year to the Irish Legal 100, Brian C. Mahoney advises clients on matters related to corporate compliance and government investigations as well as federal and New York state regulatory actions. He represents individuals, businesses and institutions in both civil and white collar criminal matters, and has tried more than 85 civil and criminal jury trials to verdict. Prior to entering private practice, Mahoney served as the Chief of the Felony Trial Bureau for the Erie County District Attorney, the largest upstate prosecutor’s office north of Westchester County. In that position, he supervised all felony trial lawyers, and oversaw the investigations and trials. In addition, he personally handled serious felony matters from investigation through trial. Mahoney successfully tried the first criminal case in Erie County where the only source of identification consisted of DNA evidence. In another trial, he obtained a conviction which at the time resulted in the longest sentence ever handed down in the history of Erie County for a non-homicide criminal conviction. Mahoney has served as a faculty advisor at the National District Attorneys Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina, the premier facility for training of federal and state civil and criminal lawyers in the country. As a faculty advisor, Mahoney specifically instructed attorneys throughout the nation on numerous aspects of trial practice.
